The biggest Soviet mass grave, established just after the battle of Stalingrad in February 1943, was found during the repair works of electricity cabel in the beginning of August 2014 in the district of Red October factory. The repair works were immediately stopped. To provide excavation works was called local patriotic search team "Vzryv".
This is the biggest mass grave found in the beginning of 21 century of soldiers' died during the fightings for Stalingrad in the city of Volgograd. The bodies of Soviet/Russian soldiers were buried in the huge bomb crater after explosion of 500 kilo aircraft demolition bomb.
The remains of approximately 1000 Russian soldiers were exhumated during the works within one month. On 03 October 2014 were idintified just only 3 Russian soldiers. Their names are: Oreshkin Sergei Mikhailovitch, 1923, native of Saratov - scout of intelligence of 44th Red Army division; Glaziev Nikolay Vasilievitch, 1902, native of Voronezh region (was marked as missing soldier in the data base); Putin Pavel Fedorovitch, 1921, Yaroslavl region (a handwritten note with his name was found in bullet case).
